Educating Yourself Beyond Books

“I left public school and joined the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School (AKHSS), Hunza under the AKU-EB system. This system is known for its learning environment which encourages critical thinking and problem solving. It is also known to produce leaders, confident and independent individuals capable of asking the right questions, searching for knowledge beyond books, information and technology. I remain thankful to my peers, friends and teachers who inspired and encouraged me in every step of my academic life. I excelled under the AKU-EB system and got distinctions in various subjects for three years, stood among the top five students in overall SSC and HSSC examinations and took part in international olympiad in Biology.

However, the fundamental part of this success was the environment which provided direction to stay focused on academics. It was also about engaging in joyful learning with our peers. Upon graduating the AKU-EB system, I got admission into LUMS on full scholarship and Aga Khan University (AKU) for the MBBS programme. I chose the AKU. My advice to all students is that the power of imagination is strong. Set your mind to do what you are good at and learning becomes joyful.
