Growing up, I saw how education could transform lives. My grandparents’ experiences were very different from my parents’, and in one generation opportunities had opened that once seemed unreachable. That realisation shaped my path, taking me from graduating through the AKU-EB system to LUMS in Lahore and then to Purdue, where I have explored the fascinating realm of Extended Reality (XR), combining my interests in technology and creativity. I have always been drawn to making things, first through art and then through code. Drawing taught me to notice patterns and shapes. Coding taught me to build systems that respond and adapt. At first, these felt like separate worlds, but in XR they come together, allowing me to create experiences where learners immerse, stepping inside concepts and interacting with ideas. Imagine walking through a historical event or manipulating a molecule in three dimensions. Knowledge becomes something to explore, not just memorize. XR excites me because it is both technical and human. I have also learned that opportunities are not equally distributed. Recognizing privilege is important because it shapes how we can help others. Engaging with my community, mentoring, and sharing knowledge have always been important. Nothing feels more rewarding than helping someone discover the same curiosity and excitement that drew me to learning. I believe the world today demands more than single-skill expertise. Being able to code is important, but so is communicating; analysing is important, but so is empathising. We need to think across disciplines, and XR is a space that naturally brings these skills together. It is a medium where creativity, technology, and human connection meet.
Looking ahead, I want to continue exploring how education can evolve. My goal is to design experiences that are immersive, engaging, and transformative, bridging creativity and technology, curiosity and understanding. Ultimately, my journey is not just about advancing technology but about reimagining access to learning. If my grandparents once saw education as distant, and I now see it as a boundless landscape, then I hope to help shape a future where every learner—regardless of background—can step into worlds of knowledge. Extended Reality is my medium, but empowerment is my mission. To every student out there: never stop exploring, because your curiosity is the bridge to possibilities you cannot yet imagine. And let your creativity and imagination turn learning into experiences that shape your future while opening doors for others. Education is not just about what you achieve—it’s about how you use it to uplift those around you. The world needs learners who are also builders, dreamers who are also doers.
