The AKU-EB Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) programme builds on conceptual understanding and develops students’ ability to apply knowledge, analyse complex ideas and think critically and independently. Through rigorous syllabi and assessment, the programme prepares students for higher education and professional pathways while developing the skills needed to engage confidently with a complex and changing world. Students are encouraged to connect learning across disciplines, apply concepts to real-world contexts and take greater ownership of their learning.

Students take four compulsory subjects and choose three elective subjects from a range of options. Examinations are taken over two years, providing opportunities for progressive development of knowledge, application and higher-order cognitive skills.
