AKU-EB Celebrates High Achievers 2025 in Chitral under the theme “You are a Drop in the Ocean”

The Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) held its National High Achievers Ceremony in Chitral, celebrating the remarkable accomplishments of students who exemplify excellence, resilience, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

The ceremony, themed “You Are a Drop in the Ocean," recognized that every learner contributes to the collective impact of education in society — where individual effort becomes part of a larger wave of progress but also, the Board's commitment to environmental sustainability and call for action.

Dr. Naveed Yousuf, CEO, AKU Examination Board, in his welcoming remarks, greeted the distinguished guests, parents, students, and donors, noting that AKU-EB's presence in regions like Chitral symbolizes the power of education to unite communities and nurture future leaders.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Amir Fancy, Chairman of the Fancy Group, lauded the efforts of AKU-EB and its partner institutions, saying,

“I am thrilled to see the strength of AKDN institutions — the impact in action — and the unity that brings His late Highness the Aga Khan's vision to life. The close collaboration between Aga Khan Education Service and AKU Examination Board is key. Together, they provide access to quality education and an environment where children, even in the farthest valleys, are informed, confident, and ready to lead. From sports to music to education to poetry — this is the spirit of education beyond academics, and it is inspiring to witness."

Also present was Brigadier (retired), Khush Muhammad Khan, Guest of Honour, who highlighted AKU-EB's contribution to Pakistan's education landscape, remarking,

“In a country striving to strengthen its education system, AKU-EB is a blessing. Its fair conduct of examinations, academic support to teachers, and uncompromising standards make it a truly credible institution. Our affiliation with AKU-EB is a rigorous process — one that ensures excellence and growth."

Reflecting the heart of the ceremony's theme, a high-achieving student expressed gratitude, saying,

“The Board showed us that education is not the end of learning, but the beginning of lifelong discovery. It reminded us that with learning comes responsibility — a responsibility to our society and to our country."

Earlier this month, AKU-EB held a similar ceremony in Karachi, bringing together high achievers from Sindh, Punjab, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. This year, the Board also launched several new scholarships, including the Jenabai Scholarship, AKU-EB Meritorious Scholarship, AKU-EB Bridge Scholarship, and AKU-EB Harji Scholarship — furthering its mission to make quality education accessible to all.

In his address, Dr. Yousuf reminded students that their success represents more than academic excellence:

“Today, we gather to celebrate excellence — but also something far deeper: the human spirit that strives, seeks, and perseveres. Every student of the AKU Examination Board carries more than a result — each is a story of discipline, resilience, and the quiet determination to rise above challenges. You stand where thousands once stood, yet your journey is uniquely your own — one that will carry forward the legacy of AKU-EB into new disciplines, new frontiers, and new ideas the world has yet to imagine."

As the ceremony concluded, the hall echoed with pride and hope — a testament to the growing community of AKU-EB learners who, like drops in an ocean, together create ripples of change that reach far beyond their classrooms.
