Aga Khan University Examination Board

Established by Aga Khan University in 2002, AKU-EB is Pakistan’s first private university-led examination board, advancing access to quality education through fair and rigorous examination and assessment.

Built on Pakistan’s national curriculum, our programmes bring international best practices in pedagogy, learning and assessment into diverse educational settings across the country, with relevance for education systems across the developing world and other contexts seeking locally responsive, internationally informed approaches.

From the Primary School Programme (PSP) and Middle School Programme (MSP) to the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC), AKU-EB offers a continuum of programmes from Grade 4 through Grade 12, grounded in inquiry-based approaches that prepare learners to think independently, engage with complexity and pursue further learning. PSP and MSP further use project-based learning to develop essential 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication and problem-solving. Through teacher training, learning resources and close collaboration with affiliated schools, we support educators in bringing these approaches into practice.

Research is at the heart of our work, informing the design, evaluation and continuous improvement of our programmes and assessments. Our assessment practices are grounded in fairness, transparency, validity and reliability, using evidence to strengthen how learning is measured and understood.

We are committed to widening opportunity through scholarships, access arrangements and initiatives that support participation. Our graduates progress to universities in Pakistan and around the world, reflecting pathways that open opportunities for further study and lifelong learning.
